Nielsen is known for her pure lines, minimalist silhouettes, and signature flared rims. Each piece begins on the wheel, then is hand-built to completion and fired using raku techniques with copper-matte glazes. The intense heat and smoke create unpredictable colors—deep red, iron rust, blue-green, charcoal grey—as if time itself had left its marks on the clay.
This year, she represented Denmark at the exhibition of the Council of the European Union in Brussels—an acknowledgment of her artistic force and a testament to her status as a key voice in Nordic ceramic expression. Her works are grounded yet powerful, radiating a commanding presence. She embodies the spirit of Nordic ceramics and stands as a compelling artist constantly challenging the boundaries between life and art.
